Erika Rosenberg was born on June 24, 1951 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her parents, German Jews, fled there to escape the Nazi regime. She studied literature, languages, history and education in Argentina, Germany and England.
In 1990, she met Emilie Schindler, Oskar Schindler's wife, through an interview for Deutsche Welle. Erika Rosenberg subsequently wrote several books about her and Oskar Schindler. She worked as a lecturer at the Goethe-Institut in Buenos Aires until 2010, at the Pontifical Catholic University of Buenos Aires in Argentina until 2011. She also works as a writer, translator and journalist.
