The well-known French expression “look for a woman” is directly related to our
film. His goal is to restore to some extent historical justice about Emily Schindler,
the wife of a German businessman, Oscar Schindler. Spielberg’s famous film
Schindler’s List immortalized the name of this man who saved many Jews from
extermination during the Holocaust. But the role in this of his wife remained
“outside the brackets”. Emily is still in the minds of many - a quiet, timid,
invisible, husband-dependent woman. What she really was never, and her
reflection in the film was completely untrue. It is known that when Emily saw the
film, she was very upset and outraged. We think that it is necessary to tell the truth
about the role this woman played, along with her husband, in saving the Jews, and
who she really was for Oscar Schindler., This is especially important right now,
when Emily is no longer alive, and she herself can not do it. It’s obvious to us that
the role of Emily Schindler is truly great both in how the system of saving the Jews
was organized and in the fact that there was money for it — namely her, Emily, the
inheritance that she gave to her husband as a whole — and that Oscar from a pious
Nazi turned into a completely different person - such as Spielberg portrayed him
Emily loved her husband, not very faithful and not always fair to her, all her life. It
was this love that was the driving force in the business that Oscar did. It was
Emily's love and influence that prompted him to truly heroic actions.
This is NOT a film exposing and NOT a film investigation. This is a FILM
ABOUT LOVE AND A WOMAN. The film is about a great woman and her role
in the fate of a man.
The film will have two plans - penetrating into each other and in a special way
intertwined.
FIRST - Thomas Morse’s opera directed by Vladimir Alenikov directed by Frau
Schindler, which we will film and use as the film’s main musical tuning fork. The
opera itself - unusually bright and talented - was created recently, it was performed
in Russian at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater. We
will record the stories of all its creators about the idea of this production and, of
course, about the heroine herself - Emily Schindler. We want the stories of our
contemporaries about this story to echo the stories of eyewitnesses of the dramatic
events of the rescue of Jews from imminent death. It was the appearance of this
opera that became familiar to us that the topic on which we want to work is
modern and in demand.
SECOND - directly the love story of Emily Schindler and Oscar, which ended
only with her death. To talk about it, we want to turn to many sources, including
the recollections of eyewitnesses.
